How to get Great Dynamics GP news all the time.
Don’t go to the news let the news come to you. Many of us are already using what they call “RSS Feeds” otherwise known as Really Simple Syndication. Yes, that’s really the name. This method of having information from your favorite blogs, websites and news sent directly to you ramped up speed between 2005-2006. It became such a popular and useful form of media communication that even Microsoft included it in the design of Dynamics GP 2010 – home page. In Dynamics GP 2010 it’s called “Connect.” To read more about the “Connect” feature check out our previous blog post. CLICK HERE.
In the mean time if you don’t have Dynamics GP 2010 yet here’s how to keep up with your favorite writers, news and information through Microsoft Outlook 2007 using an RSS Feed.
Browse out to your favorite website, blog or media.
You will notice, see below screen shot, a little icon usually Orange but can be a different RSS identifier, for example facebook is a square box with a blue background and white F.
If you want to “Subscribe” to this feed, or have post come to your Microsoft Office 2007 inbox click the little icon.
When you click the icon a new page will open with the latest posts as seen below.
Click “Subscribe to this feed.”
Once you click the “Subscribe to this feed.” You have a few options, see next screen shot.
- (A) Name your feed. You can change the name of your feed here.
- (B) Choose a folder or create a new folder, these will be in Microsoft Outlook 2007 in a section below your inbox. We will see that in a moment.
- (C) If you check the box for “Add to Favorite Bar” and this is handy when you need to get to a webpage fast you can choose this option. I have a few on my toolbar for quick access.
- (D) Lastly, click “Subscribe”
Now, if you go to your Microsoft Outlook 2007 below your Inbox you will see your Folder (A) below called “RSS Feeds” containing all the latest and greatest updated information from your favorite sites (B) below for the I.B.I.S., Inc site.
If I click (B) from above “I.B.I.S., Inc.” What we will see is incoming post and depending on you email view there will be a brief excerpt from the post and an option to “View article” that will take you to the article.
It’s that easy and now you won’t miss a thing from your favorite writers.
A final note regarding RSS Feeds. Some websites are linked to other sites, such as, in our I.B.I.S., Inc. case. So if you are looking to receive the lastest on Dynamics GP from our DynamicsCare syndication then from our site http://www.ibisinc.com/blog/ you will want to click “Dynamics GP Blog.” See below.
From the DynamicsCare.com blog you can “Subscribe to Dynamics GP RSS Feed.” See below. This will bring you all of our latest Dynamics GP happenings from the Dynamics GP community.
